Spicy Mushroom Basket Recipe

Not everyone loves mushrooms, so you can replace them with your favorite kind of meat, or some eggplants, zucchini or any kind of vegetable you like.

Ingredients

  • 4 thin slices of white onion;
  • 75 g shallots;
  • 1 thick slice of smoked ham;
  • 225 g mushrooms;
  • 1 tablespoon Worcester sauce;
  • 1 teaspoon of tomato paste;
  • 50 g butter;
  • 4 slices of toast;
  • salt;
  • pepper;
  • 2 tablespoons of sour cream;
  • 4 sprigs chervil to ornate.

Preparation

  1. Cut the mushrooms and ham. You can cut the ham nice in thin slices.
  2. Preheat the oven at 200 °C.
  3. Use a glass or your fingers to make baskets from the bread slices. Put the bread in the baking pan that you will use and it will be easier. Use as a pan a muffin tops pan. It has bigger circles that the muffin pan.
  4. Grease the top of the bread baskets with melted butter. Put another muffin tops pan on top. That will help the bread keep its basket form.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes with the pan on top, that for 10 minutes without the extra pan.
  6. Bake it until it is nice and crispy.
  7. Meanwhile you will prepare the filling for the bread baskets.
  8. In the leftover butter fry the onions and the ham.
  9. Add the mushrooms to it on high heat and fry it a little. Then on low heat cook it until the mushroom juice evaporates.
  10. Carefully add to the frying mix the Worcester sauce, the tomato paste and some salt and pepper.
  11. Fill the bread baskets with the mushroom and ham mix.

You can make the spicy mushroom some time ahead, and bake the bread just before serving.
